Our Shipping Standards

Shipping Options & Logistics

At Afghan Export Link, we provide reliable and flexible shipping solutions tailored to the needs of international buyers. As Afghanistan is a land-locked country, all exports are routed through established regional transport corridors and partner ports or airports to ensure smooth onward delivery to global destinations.

We work closely with experienced logistics partners to select the most efficient route based on cargo type, volume, urgency, and destination. All shipments are prepared according to international export standards and supported with complete documentation.

Air Freight

Air freight is the preferred option for urgent, time-sensitive, or high-value goods.
Shipments are routed through international cargo flights to major global hubs, ensuring fast and secure delivery.

This method offers:

  • Short transit times

  • High handling standards

  • Suitable conditions for sensitive or premium products

Air freight costs are calculated per kilogram and vary depending on airline availability, route, and service level.

Courier Services (DHL / FedEx or Equivalent)

Courier services are ideal for samples, documents, and small consignments.
We use trusted international courier companies that provide door-to-door delivery.

This option includes:

  • End-to-end tracking

  • Simplified customs handling

  • Fast delivery for lightweight shipments

Courier services are commonly used for pre-order samples and small commercial parcels.

Multimodal Shipping (Land + Sea Freight via Pakistan)

For bulk and commercial shipments, multimodal transport is the most cost-effective solution.

Goods are transported by road from Afghanistan to Pakistan through operational border crossings and then shipped internationally via Karachi Port.

This method is suitable for:

  • Large volumes

  • Containerized cargo

  • Buyers seeking optimized shipping costs

Multimodal shipping combines road and sea transport to ensure reliable delivery while keeping logistics costs under control.

Regional Overland Transport

Overland transport is available for regional destinations and consolidation purposes, depending on route availability and regulatory approvals.

This option may be used for:

  • Cross-border trade

  • Regional distribution

  • Consolidated cargo shipments

Routes and transit times depend on destination country requirements and border conditions.

Transit Time & Tracking

  • Air Freight: Fastest option; transit time varies by destination

  • Courier Services: Real-time tracking provided until delivery

  • Land & Sea Freight: Transit time depends on routing, port schedules, and customs clearance

Tracking details and shipment updates are shared with buyers once the goods are dispatched.

Customs & Import Clearance

Afghan Export Link provides all standard export documentation, including:

  • Commercial Invoice

  • Packing List

  • Bill of Lading or Airway Bill

  • Certificate of Origin (where applicable)

Buyers are responsible for import customs clearance, duties, taxes, and compliance with local regulations at the destination country.

Our logistics coordination aims to minimize delays and ensure a smooth export process.

Professional Considerations

  • Speed vs. Cost: Air freight offers speed, while land-and-sea routes provide cost efficiency for larger shipments.

  • Flexible Routing: Pakistan-based logistics corridors allow consistent access to global shipping networks.

Each shipment is planned individually to ensure the best balance between delivery time, cost, and cargo safety.

  • Wise

  • Other approved international payment channels, as agreed and stated in the Proforma Invoice

All payment methods are selected to provide reliability, traceability, and ease of international settlement.

Payment Structure & Confirmation

  • The remaining balance is settled against the agreed shipping documents, including the Bill of Lading or Airway Bill.

  • All transactions are handled through verified business accounts to ensure security, compliance, and full financial transparency.

Final payment terms, amounts, and timelines are clearly outlined in the Proforma Invoice prior to order confirmation, ensuring mutual understanding between buyer and seller.

03.

⏱️ Lead Time & Dispatch

At Afghan Export Link, we plan production and logistics carefully to ensure timely and reliable order fulfillment while maintaining product quality.

  • The standard FOB lead time is up to 15 days, depending on product availability, order quantity, and confirmation of payment terms.

  • Dispatch timelines may vary due to factors beyond our control, including logistics arrangements, customs clearance procedures, border formalities, or other external conditions.

  • Once the shipment is dispatched, full tracking details and shipment documents are shared promptly with the buyer for transparency and monitoring.

We maintain close coordination with logistics partners to minimize delays and keep buyers informed at every stage of the dispatch process.

04.

🌍 International Trade Terms (Incoterms)

All shipments handled by Afghan Export Link are conducted in accordance with internationally recognized Incoterms®, ensuring clarity of responsibilities, costs, and risk transfer between buyer and seller.

The applicable Incoterm is mutually agreed upon during order confirmation and is clearly stated in the Proforma Invoice, sales contract, and shipping documents.

Commonly Used Incoterms

  • FOB (Free on Board)
This is our standard trade term unless otherwise agreed. Responsibility and risk transfer to the buyer once the goods are loaded on board the vessel at the designated port.

  • CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight)
Available upon request. Under CIF terms, the seller arranges and pays for freight and insurance to the destination port, while risk transfers according to Incoterm rules.

  • EXW (Ex Works)
Available for specific buyer arrangements where the buyer assumes responsibility for collection, export formalities, and onward transportation from the seller’s premises.

By following standardized Incoterms, we ensure transparent trade practices, reduce misunderstandings, and support smooth international transactions for all parties involved.

05.

🧾 Buyer Responsibilities

To ensure smooth and timely execution of export transactions, buyers are responsible for the following obligations at the destination country:

  • Import Customs Clearance
Buyers are responsible for completing all import customs formalities, including customs clearance, payment of duties, taxes, and any other government charges applicable in the destination country.

  • Compliance with Local Regulations
Buyers must ensure that the imported goods comply with all local laws, regulations, standards, and import requirements of their country, including licenses, permits, and product-specific approvals if required.

  • Timely Payment Obligations
Buyers are required to release the remaining balance payment strictly in accordance with the agreed payment terms outlined in the Proforma Invoice and sales contract to avoid delays in shipment or document release.

Clear fulfillment of these responsibilities helps maintain efficient logistics operations, prevents unnecessary delays, and supports a transparent and successful international trade relationship.

06.

📄 Documentation

  • Commercial Invoice – detailing product, price, and terms

  • Packing List – complete breakdown of items and packaging

  • Bill of Lading (BL) / Airway Bill (AWB) – proof of shipment and transport details

  • Certificate of Origin (COO) – verifying the country of manufacture, where applicable

Proper documentation guarantees compliance with international trade regulations and helps buyers avoid delays or issues during import procedures.
